چکیده

Purpose: Pulmonary vein isolation by means of catheter ablation is a new therapeutic modality for patients with symptomatic atrial fibrillation. Due to the complex anatomy preprocedual imaging of left atrium and pulmonary veins is helpful for planning catheter intervention. With the advent of electrocardiogram-gated and respiratory-gated 3D steady state free precession (SSFP) sequences covering the entire heart (wholeheart MR angiography, MRA) it has become possible to visualize cardiac vascular anatomy with high spatial resolution [1]. However, native whole-heart MRA was only of limited value for depiction of left atrium and pulmonary veins [2]. Intravascular contrast media with their uniform and prolonged enhancement of the blood pool appear to be well applicable for whole-heart MRA. The hypothesis for this study was that the intravascular contrast agent gadofosveset trisodium significantly improves image quality of whole-heart MRA and hereby allows high resolution MRA of left atrium and pulmonary veins.

A Comparison between Gadofosveset Trisodium and Gadobenate Dimeglumine for Steady State MRA of the Thoracic Vasculature

PURPOSE Retrospective comparison between gadofosveset trisodium and gadobenate dimeglumine steady state magnetic resonance angiography (SS-MRA) of the thoracic vasculature at 1.5T using signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and vessel edge sharpness (ES) as markers of image quality. MATERIALS AND METHODS IRB approval was obtained. Twenty separate patients each underwent SS-MRA using high-resolution 3D ...

Anatomic assessment of pulmonary veins and left atrium - comparison of magnetic resonance angiography with gadoteric acid, the blood pool contrast agent B22956/1 and a non-contrast enhanced imaging approach

Methods We compared 3 different MRI methods. First a noncontrast enhanced T2-prep steady state free precession (SSFP)-sequence, second, a high resolution IR-SSFP sequence with the blood pool contrast agent B22956/1 and third, a breath hold IR-SSFP atriography using the extravascular contrast agent gadoteric acid. Fourteen healthy volunteers (B22956/1-IR-SSFP) and 20 consecutive patients (T2-pre...

Improved high-resolution pediatric vascular cardiovascular magnetic resonance with gadofosveset-enhanced 3D respiratory navigated, inversion recovery prepared gradient echo readout imaging compared to 3D balanced steady-state free precession readout imaging

BACKGROUND Improved delineation of vascular structures is a common indication for cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in children and requires high spatial resolution. Currently, pre-contrast 3D, respiratory navigated, T2-prepared, fat saturated imaging with a bSSFP readout (3D bSSFP) is commonly used; however, these images can be limited by blood pool inhomogeneity and exaggeration of meta...

High-spatial-resolution multistation MR angiography with parallel imaging and blood pool contrast agent: initial experience.

The purpose of this study was to prospectively evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of reader detection of 75% or greater stenosis at high-spatial-resolution multistation magnetic resonance (MR) angiography performed with matrix coils and a blood pool contrast agent. Ten healthy volunteers and 10 patients were examined. All participants provided informed consent to participate in this institutional...

Part 2 – Coronary angiography with gadofosveset trisodium: a prospective intra-subject comparison for dose optimization for 100 % efficiency imaging

BACKGROUND Three tesla (3T) coronary magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) may be optimized using gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCA) such as gadofosveset trisodium. The goal of this study was to evaluate if there is a qualitative or quantitative improvement in the coronary arteries with variation in contrast dose. METHODS Twenty-eight healthy volunteers were prospectively recruited for co...
